When a student is absent from home school, piles of overwhelming, discouraging make-up work to "catch up" is not necessary. Since each student is working at his/her own pace, beginning where the student left off is a much less overwhelming strategy for the continuation of his/her education. You may wonder, "Then what's to keep the child from missing too much school?" This is a valid question. If a student does not finish the curriculum for his/her grade level, they do not advance to the next grade level. One of the advantages of home school is speeding up when possible and slowing down when necessary.
