This week Pastor Andre Erasmus shares his thoughts about facing the dificulties that can be found in our daily lives.

Pastor Andre Erasmus shares his thoughts for the week:

We all face ‘winds’ (difficulties) in our lives on a daily basis. Some come directly against us and make rowing through the water of life very difficult. Interestingly, In The Book of Mark, Chapter 6, we read how Jesus walked on water while the wind and storm was raging.  I want to mention four truths found in Mark 6:45-57.

First of all, Jesus ‘forced’ the disciples into the water heading towards the wind (v45-46). Why? Jesus knew that if we have smooth sailing all the time, we will not feel the need for Him as our Savior!

Secondly, Jesus understood their troubles (v 47-48a). He fully knew what would happen in their lives.  He saw their difficulty rowing the boat. By the fifth watch (3am-6am) the disciples had been fighting against the wind for 6-10 hours! He understood their trouble, and He also knows yours!

Thirdly, Jesus came to them in their trouble (v 48b-50a). If he was the One who sent them, He would surely help them, right? He was helping without end and He kept going to them to help. He is doing the same thing for you and me- helping without end!

Fourthly, Jesus revealed Himself to the disciples (v 50b-51). He said, “Don’t worry, it’s Me, I am!” What problem do you have? Do you have struggles in your life? Do you have strong winds and personal storms raging against you? Maybe you feel emotionally, physically or spiritually exhausted from all the rowing into the wind. Remember that Jesus is right there with you, right now.  He says: “Relax, don’t worry, I am!”
