Just CrossPoint: A Light to the World - How to Communicate Jesus to a Dark World
This week Pastor Wilna Erasmus shares the steps we need to take to bring Jesus to a darkened world.

This week Pastor Wilna Erasmus shares her insight on sharing the light of Jesus to a world that is in darkness.
We are living in very interesting times. I was reading a part of scripture that captured my attention especially when I think about this time we are living in.John 1:19-28John called the people to repent and to change their way of life. He told them they need to leave their sins behind and to live a new kind of life. (Verses 24-26) We need to, like John, call on people to commit to God, irrespective of their background or beliefs.
These Jews we read about in verse 24-26 were shocked. John called them to repent and to be baptized. Remember, it was not that baptism was an unknown. It was used for non-Jewish people who wished to become members of the family of God. But note…it was reserved for the Gentiles only, because all Gentiles were considered unclean. Jews felt that they were acceptable to God no matter how they lived. After all, they were children of Abraham.

John The Baptist, to their horror, was treating Jews as though they were lost sinners. Today, in the same way, we live among people that think they are OK. They think that if they just do more good things than bad, God will accept them. And they think that as long as they are sincere, God will accept them. And they believe that there are many ways to get to God, and God will accept the way they are coming.
BUT: We have a message for the people around us. A Message of hope and a promising future. a Message of a Savior that made a victorious life everlasting possible for anyone that believes in Him. We need the message of Jesus Christ:

1) WE need to interpret the message to our communities. That means we need to know the message and be in relationship with the Savior to be able to interpret the message.
2) We need to know who we are in Christ so that we can point to the Savior and not to human ability. We only need the voice to carry the message.
3) We need to carry the message of change, like we said in the beginning that John did.
4) We need to identify the presence of God in our gatherings. As John was gathering with the delegation from Jerusalem, Jesus was most certainly, in the crowd as well. We need to, as John, acknowledge that he is not the important one here but it is Jesus the Savior that is the Important One. We need to indicate and acknowledge the presence of God whenever two or three are gathered in His Name.
The challenge is this: Communicate Jesus, as Savior. Even if the message is difficult (repent and change to live a different life) And communicate Jesus as Lamp of God, Savior of the world!
