Just CrossPoint: Is Jesus Real and Relevant in our Lives?

As a believer do you find that Jesus is relevant to your life? Please check out Pastor Andre Erasmus' thoughts on what the Bible says about Jesus and what role he should play in our daily lives.

This week Pastor Andre Erasmus share his thoughts about Jesus and whether He is Real and Relevant in our lives, as he should be:

Who is the real Jesus? How can the 'church' (body of believers) be relevant today?  I have this urgency lately to have more of Jesus!  Are we ready to see the miracles, signs and wonders of the power of the Holy Spirit? We need more of Jesus in our lives.  What does it mean to have more of Him?  In the first chapter of the Book of Acts he presented Himself alive.

We cry for more of Jesus but do not allow Him to clean us up!  We continue to live in the same stagnant position, without allowing Jesus to affect any real change!  God's Word is powerful and alive, but we don't allow it to change us.  God wants us to be holy- to live a life without sin and blame.  He wants us to be united in our calling.  He wants us to apply what we have learned.  At some stage, what we have learned must be reflected in our lives!  We need to unite and get ready for what God is going to do.  God wants to fill us with a greater understanding of Him.

There are great things that He began and wants us to take and move forward.  He is calling us closer to Him. But we need to change in order to become closer to Him. God wants us to become more holy, and to enter into awesome times with Him. We have to come to a place where we wear Jesus well, which is a place where they can see Jesus in us! The eighth verse of Acts says we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on us.  The Word says we will do greater things than what Jesus did.  We need to be still and sit in His presence, listen to Him and hear what He tells us to do.  We had many prophesies of what The Lord is doing and going to do.  Acts 2:43 says “and they continued steadfastly in the doctrine...." They continually broke bread....having favor...added to their numbers daily.  Is the church still relevant? Is the Word relevant? God's Word is relevant.

How is God’s Word relevant? First, we must spread the Gospel. People need to hear the Gospel of Jesus. They must see Jesus and hear the testimony of His goodness.  We need to worship God. People need to be taught to worship and then teach others to worship.   Secondly, the church needs to be a place where the power of God is manifested.  Many wonders and miracles should take place during every church service!  Signs and wonders should be in church.  The power of the Holy Spirit should be present! Thirdly, the church needs to be passionate about God.  Acts 4:32 states "they were one in heart and mind".  All their needs were met.  Fourthly, the presence of the Lord in us should be evident to all.  We need to be different, look different, act different.  Invite people to your home, get to know new people.  Finally, the praise and worship in the church should attract people so they can see our sincerity in our worship.  It should not be a show or concert, but our efforts to glorify God in spirit and in truth!
