Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk's "First Place Team" Trophy Hits the Road!
On March 14 the Pasco County Tax Collector's Office was awarded the coveted Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk's "1st Place Team" trophy.
On March 14 the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office was awarded the coveted Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk’s “1st Place Team” trophy. The award is given annually to the individual team which recruits not only the most walkers for the Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk, but also for the team which raises the most money. Much like professional hockey’s “Stanley Cup,” the trophy resides with the winning team for one year. The 2014 winner, The Rotary Club of Seven Springs, handed over the trophy to members of “Team Tax Collector” who were present for the ceremony (see photo).
Since the awarding of the trophy it has been on display at the tax collector’s office located in the West Pasco Government Center. Beginning June 1, and extending through the middle of August, the trophy will be on display at the tax collector’s office in Gulf Harbors (4720 U.S. Highway 19, New Port Richey). From there it will travel to Dade city, Land O’ Lakes, Wesley Chapel and will return to New Port Richey in time for the 2016 Hunger Walk.
The Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk benefits One Community Now’s “Pack-a-Sack 4 Kids” program. Children who live in danger of not having food on their dining room table are given a backpack full of healthy meals each Friday to ensure that they have meals for the weekend. The empty backpack is returned to the program on Monday, to be refilled for the following weekend.

“I applaud the members of Team Tax Collector for their commitment to fight hunger and to participate in the Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “Team Tax Collector had 38 individuals sign up to be a part of what was a fun and rewarding event. One Community Now, the non-profit organization which benefits from the funds raised by all the individuals and organizations who gave so freely of their time, will help children and families in our community have food in their homes.”
Although the trophy will be on hand during the 2016 Hunger Walk, Team Tax Collector is already committed to defending its title and privilege to continue displaying the trophy.
