Update: Gumbo Dispute Led to Fatal Stabbing, Cops Say
The amount of spice to add to a batch sparked a heated argument between two men.

Chef Paul Prudhomme is passionate about his gumbo, but itβs doubtful heβd go to the lengths police say a Panama City Beach man went to in order to whip up a perfect batch.
According to the Panama City Beach Police Department, the brouhaha over just how much spice to add to a pot of simmering gumbo heated up Tuesday, ending when one man stabbed the other. The incident in question cooked up at Buddyβs Seafood Market, 111 S. Highway 79, and was captured on surveillance video.
Police say employee Orlando Thompson, 26, got into a verbal dispute with fellow employee Caleb Halley over the βamount of spice to put into the restaurantβs gumbo,β a media release from the police department stated. The dispute turned physical when police say Thompson grabbed a wooden board and Halley pulled out a small pocket knife.

It seems that prompted a renewal of the physical altercation. Police noted, βThompson is seen swinging and thrusting the knife at Halley.β
Halley was thought to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but later died.
Thompson has been charged with manslaughter following Halleyβs Thursday death, the Panama City News Herald reported.
