Hudson Man Accused Of Stealing Car With Toddlers In Back Seat

A 21-year-old Hudson man is facing kidnapping charges after reportedly taking off in a stolen Jeep with two young children in the back seat.

HUDSON, FL – A 21-year-old Hudson man is facing charges of kidnapping, auto theft, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and criminal mischief after stealing a Jeep Cherokee with two toddlers in the back seat.

Tabitha Bacon, 24, of 16411 Tomahawk St., Hudson, told Pasco Sheriff’s deputies that she was mud running with friends in a wooded area near her home when an acquaintance, Travis Wade Breighner, 22, of 9722 Clyde St., Hudson, got into a fight with her boyfriend.

Bacon said Breighner then punched out the window of her 1992 Jeep Cherokee, jumped into the driver’s seat and drove off with Bacon’s two children, ages 2 and 3, in the back seat.

Breighner abandoned the Jeep a short time later and fled into the woods, leaving the children unharmed in the Jeep.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office began searching for Breighner with K9 units and the sheriff’s helicopter, eventually locating him at 10146 Oak Drive, Hudson, where he was taken into custody.
