Lakeland Firefighter Arrested For Threatening Driver With Gun

A firefighter for the city of Lakeland was arrested over the weekend after he reportedly pointed a semi-automatic pistol at another driver.

HUDSON, FL -- A Lakeland firefighter is facing aggravated assault charges following what Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies are calling a road rage incident.

According to the sheriff’s office, Peter Martucci, 40, a firefighter for the city of Lakeland, was arrested over the weekend after he reportedly pointed a semi-automatic pistol at another driver.

The victim told deputies that Martucci, who was at the wheel of a white GMC truck, began tailgating him on U.S. 19 near Embassy Boulevard on Saturday, March 10, around 9:30 a.m. He said Martucci continued to follow him closely and flash his headlights on and off.

At the intersection of Sea Ranch Road and Old Dixie Highway in Hudson, the victim said Martucci pulled up beside him, pointed a gun at him and threatened him.

A witness called deputies after seeing Martucci chasing the victim’s car and provided deputies with a tag number.

Deputies located Martucci’s truck parked in the front yard of a home on Beverly Drive in Hudson. A corporal at the scene searched Martucci’s truck and found a black 9 mm Sig Sauer P239 handgun loaded with 8 bullets in the magazine.

Martucci was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and taken to the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.
