Man Hit, Killed By Car While Crossing Pasco County Highway In Heavy Fog: FL Troopers

A 78-year-old man died after being hit by a car while crossing a Zephyrhills highway in heavy fog, FL troopers said.

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL — Heavy fog is believed to be a factor in the death of a 78-year-old man who was hit by a car while crossing a Zephyrhills highway on Wednesday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The Zephyrhills man was crossing Dairy Road, north of Market Square Drive, around 7 a.m. when he was hit by a Nissan Altima heading south on the highway.

He walked into the car’s path and was hit by it.

There was heavy fog at the time of the crash, FHP said.

The man was brought to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Troopers didn’t say whether the driver, a 28-year-old Leesburg woman, was injured or not.
