1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured In Manatee County Crash: FL Troopers

A Ford Mustang drove through a red light, hitting a pick-up truck in the Bradenton area, FL troopers said. 1 person died, 2 were injured.

BRADENTON, FL — One person was killed and two seriously injured in a Sunday afternoon crash between a Ford Mustang and a pick-up truck in Manatee County, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The Mustang, driven by a 19-year-old Bradenton man, was heading west on 53rd Avenue West in the right lane, approaching a red traffic signal at the intersection with 20th Street West, around 3:45 p.m.

At the same time, a Ford F-150 , driven by a 38-year-old Bradenton man, was heading south on 20th Street West in the left turn lane, approaching a green light at the 53rd Avenue West intersection.

As the truck turned left onto eastbound 53rd Avenue, the Mustang drove through the red light into the intersection, hitting the other vehicle, troopers said.

The truck’s passenger, a 53-year-old Sarasota man, was brought to an area hospital with critical injuries and later pronounced dead.

Both drivers were seriously injured.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, FHP said.
