New Port Richey Bicyclist Dies After Being Struck By Pickup

A 56-year-old bicyclist was killed Tuesday, Aug. 28, when he was struck by a pickup truck on Grand Boulevard at Pasadena Avenue.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – A 56-year-old bicyclist was killed Tuesday, Aug. 28, when he was struck by a pickup truck on Grand Boulevard at Pasadena Avenue.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Herbert Lee Measley of New Port Richey was riding his bike north on Grand Boulevard at 11:10 a.m. when a Ford F250 pickup driven by Kim M. Thursby, 55, of New Port Richey came up behind him and attempted to pass. The right front tire of the truck struck Measley’s bicycle.

Measley was transported to Morton Plant North Bay where he died from his injuries.

Charges against Thursby are pending.
