Man Surrenders To Sheriff After NPR Woman Falls Out Of Vehicle

A 35-year-old New Port Richey woman died after falling out of the window of a vehicle at State Road 54 and Madison Street on Friday.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -- An East Haven, Connecticut, man has surrendered to authorities in connection with a disturbance at a New Port Richey gas station that ended in the death of a 35-year-old woman.

Janet Yoland Derosier Emile of New Port Richey died after falling out of the window of a vehicle at State Road 54 and Madison Street on Friday, June 1.

According to state troopers, Jonathan Randall Gordon, 22, surrendered to authorities on June 2 after the Florida Highway Patrol issued a media advisory describing his a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban and seeking information on the driver.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating what occurred in the parking lot of the RacTrac gas station at 5823 S.R. 54 in New Port Richey at 11:36 p.m. that led to Emile's death.

She was reportedly hanging half out of the passenger side window of the Suburban when Gordon pulled out of the gas station onto S.R. 54. At that point, Emile fell out of the window and was struck by a 2013-14 dark-colored Ford Escape. Both Gordon and the driver of the Ford Escape left the scene. Emile was transported to the hospital where she died.
