New Port Richey Wrong-Way Driver Charged With Driving Drunk

The Florida Highway Patrol believes intoxication caused a crash on Little Road and Youth Lane in Port Richey that injured three people.

PORT RICHEY, FL -- The Florida Highway Patrol believes intoxication caused a crash on Little Road and Youth Lane in Port Richey that injured three people.

Penny Taylor, 64, of New Port Richey has been charged with drunk driving in the crash which occurred at 12:23 a.m. Saturday, June 23.

According to troopers, Taylor was traveling the wrong way on Little Road without her headlights on when she struck a Ford F150 driven by Matthew Rinehart, 25, of Hudson.

Her 2018 Kia Soul struck the right front side of Rinehart’s truck.

Taylor, Rinehart and Rinehart’s passenger, Elizabeth Arevalo, 23 of Port Richey were all taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson with minor injuries.

A blood-alcohol test showed Taylor had a .108 level of alcohol in her system. In Florida, anything above a BAC of .08 is considered impaired.
