Pasco Health Department Confirms 14,400 Coronavirus Tests

As of June 1, there have been 388 positive cases of coronavirus in Pasco County. Of those 76 were hospitalized and 13 have died.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County has now investigated all confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the county. The DOH hailed this as an important milestone because it allows DOH epidemiologists to identify contacts and implement control measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

As of this week, Pasco County has tested more than 14,400 people for the coronavirus.

DOH-Pasco continues to prevent the spread of the coronavirus through testing, contact tracing, information and education.

In addition to testing, Pasco County partners continue to reach out to help those in need during the coronavirus safer-at-home order.

Pasco County Senior Services has served more than 50,000 meals to seniors age 60 and over who are frail or homebound since March 16.

Also, in March and April, nearly $1.2 million in WIC benefits were redeemed in Pasco County. Women, Infants and Children is a special supplemental nutrition program funded through federal grants.

The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County is working with community partners to provide coronavirus testing throughout Pasco County. It is recommended that people call facilities prior to going for testing to ensure they meet any guidelines required by the provider.

BayCare Health Systems has been providing testing at the Gulf High School parking lot since the end of March. BayCare had to temporarily relocate its coronavirus testing site to 5637 Marine Parkway but is resuming testing at Gulf High School, 5355 School Road, New Port Richey, June 1. Call 1-800-BAYCARE.
