"We commend the swift action, good policing, diligent work of the law enforcement, OPD to make this arrest," Orlando commissioner Bakari Burns said, Fox 35 reported. "We, as a community, have to come together to find solutions for some of those root causes of these senseless, violent acts."

Authorities said the investigation is continuing and they are asking anyone with information related to contact the Orlando Police Homicide Unit or pass on their information anonymously through Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.

Police said the girl and her mother were believed to be unintended targets, Click Orlando reported.

A neighbor told Click Orlando the girl was "such a beautiful girl. So quiet. You would want (the mother) for a neighbor. No loudness, no riffraff, her kids were very controlled."
