After Voting Twice In 2020 Presidential Elections, 3 FL Residents Face Charges: Report

Three residents of The Villages, all registered Republicans at the time of the 2020 presidential election, face voter fraud charges.

THE VILLAGES, FL — Three residents of a Florida retirement community have been charged with voter fraud after voting more than once in the 2020 presidential election, authorities said.

Jay Ketcick, John Rider and Joan Halstead, who live in The Villages in Sumter County, face felony charges after being accused of casting more than one vote last year, the Washington Post reported. If convicted, they could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.

They were arrested after Sumter County Supervisor of Elections Bill Keen investigated allegations of voter fraud.

Halstead voted in Florida and cast an absentee ballot in New York, while Ketcick voted by mail in Florida and cast an absentee ballot in Michigan, according to reports. Rider voted in Florida and elsewhere, though the second location wasn’t available, reports stated.

All three were registered Republicans at the time of the 2020 election, News 6 reported. Rider changed his voter registration to no party affiliation after his arrest. All three have posted their support of former President Donald Trump on social media, according to reports.

Since the election, Trump has made false claims that he lost to President Joe Biden because of voter fraud.
