5 Common Website Mistakes Orlando Business Owners Should Avoid

Websites today are read by more than just visitors. Search engines, AI tools, and increasingly automated agents all interact with a site before a customer ever does. Here are five common gaps that show up on local business websites, and what they mean.

Mistake 1: Ignoring AI Visibility and Agentic Readiness

AI now affects a website in two ways: whether it shows up in AI-generated search results, and whether automated agents can actually use the site once they're there. These are separate problems, alongside a third, related setting for AI access.

Google's Lighthouse tool, which powers PageSpeed Insights, added a category called Agentic Browsing in 2026. According to Chrome for Developers documentation, it checks whether AI agents can read a site's structure, understand what it offers, and complete actions like submitting a form, so a poorly built site can cause an agent to fail partway through a task. Google calls this category experimental, not a confirmed SEO ranking score.

Search visibility itself is governed separately, through Search Console's "Search generative AI" control, which lets a site owner include or exclude their site from AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Discover's AI features. It's currently in testing with a subset of UK site owners, with possible global expansion but no confirmed timetable, so U.S. site owners can't access it yet.

Mistake 2: Missing Trust Signals

Reviews, testimonials, certifications, case studies, and client logos help visitors and AI tools evaluate whether a business is credible. Sites without these signals give both people and search systems less to work with when judging trustworthiness.

Google's quality guidelines look for signals of experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trust, often called E-E-A-T. A site with no reviews or case studies, and no way to verify who's behind it, gives Google, and increasingly AI tools summarizing search results, very little to work with.

In practice, this can mean a reviews section pulling in real ratings, a few short case studies with real outcomes, visible certifications, and actual team photos instead of stock imagery matter more than ever.

Mistake 3: No Individual Location Pages

Businesses with more than one location sometimes combine everything into a single generic page, which can reduce location-specific search visibility and create weaker landing pages for each Google Business Profile. It also makes it harder for customers to find accurate information about the branch nearest to them.

Separate location pages give Google a more relevant page to match with each location-specific search. According to Google's own Business Profile link guidelines, businesses with multiple locations must have action links, such as "Book" or "Order" buttons, that lead to a website for that specific location, not to a general landing page or to a page for a different branch.

A more effective structure typically looks like:

  • website.com/locations/
  • website.com/locations/orlando/
  • website.com/locations/winter-park/

Each location page can then include its own address, hours, services, staff, photos, directions, and contact details, giving customers the specific information they need for the branch they're actually trying to reach.

Mistake 4: Only One General Service Page

A single broad "Our Services" page reduces search visibility for specific searches, and individual service pages are typically needed for both Google Business Profile action links and better SEO and AI visibility. Google's own Actions Center guidelines state that service-level action links, like "Book" or "Order" buttons, must lead to a dedicated landing page for that specific service, not a general page.

Someone searching "carpet cleaning services" is more likely to land on a page built specifically for that service than on a page that covers all the services a business offers in general terms. Dedicated pages can also target more specific searches, such as "residential carpet cleaning in Orlando," which a single broad services page usually can't compete for. Individual pages allow more precise targeting for specific searches.

Mistake 5: Slow Loading Speeds

Large images, unnecessary plugins, and poorly optimized code can make visitors leave before a page finishes loading. Google's Core Web Vitals are part of its ranking system, though speed is only one of several factors.

Ignoring poor website performance is a problem in itself and may result in an SEO disadvantage, as Google uses Core Web Vitals as part of its ranking system, though speed is only one factor.

Additionally, slow-loading and unstable pages can drive visitors away, reduce leads and sales, waste advertising spend, and weaken the website's search performance.

Many of these issues are not immediately visible. Their impact appears in how your website performs for visitors, search engines, and the AI systems increasingly used to discover and evaluate businesses.
