Central Florida Latter-day Saints to Volunteer at National Down Syndrome Congress Convention

ORLANDO, FL — Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from across Central Florida will come together this July to volunteer at the National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC) Annual Convention in Orlando starting on July 23rd, offering their time and talents through the community service platform JustServe. The convention, one of the largest gatherings of its kind in the nation, brings together individuals with Down syndrome, family members, caregivers, educators, and advocates for several days of learning, encouragement, and celebration. Using the JustServe app, local volunteers have signed up to assist with a variety of assignments throughout the convention, helping create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for thousands of attendees from across the country. “Service brings people together,” said Kimberly Smith, NDSC Volunteer Coordinator. “We are grateful for all our volunteers who support families and individuals attending this year’s convention and help make their experience in Orlando a memorable one.”

“JustServe provides opportunities for neighbors to come together and make a difference in their communities,” said Elder Kurt F. Scherer, an Area Seventy leader in the United States Southeast Area. “Our volunteers are honored to support the National Down Syndrome Congress and the remarkable individuals and families it serves.”

JustServe, a community service initiative sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, connects volunteers with nonprofit organizations and community needs regardless of religious affiliation. The platform enables individuals and groups to discover meaningful ways to serve and strengthen their communities. The volunteer effort reflects the Church’s emphasis on following the example of Jesus Christ through love, compassion, and service to others. Participants from congregations throughout Central Florida will join hundreds of other volunteers in supporting what has become a premier national event for education, advocacy, and inclusion.
