Colliers International grows retail brokerage team in Orlando
Alexie Fonseca will join company as Managing Director, Retail Services

Colliers International has hired Alexie Fonseca as Managing Director, Retail Services. Starting July 1, she will focus on representing retail landlords and commercial developments in the Central Florida market.
Fonseca has spent over 12 years at Unicorp National Developments in Orlando, including the past five years as the retail developer’s Director of Leasing.
“Alexie’s knowledge, talents and capabilities are amongst the best in the Central Florida market,” said Danny Rice, Managing Director and Market Leader for Colliers International Tampa Bay, Central & Southwest Florida. “We have a great relationship with Unicorp and have known Alexie for a while. Many brokers on our team have transacted with her over the years, which makes it very exciting, and a perfect fit, to have her join our team in Orlando.”

During the five years she spent as Unicorp’s Director of Leasing, Fonseca was directly involved in commercial real estate transactions totaling over $225 million and 807,000 square feet of retail space. She also managed a 1-million-square-foot portfolio.
Among many high-profile transactions, she has handled leasing for Westside Shoppes, a 70,000-square-foot mixed-use center in Windermere; Lakeside at Winter Park, a 42,000-square-foot restaurant/retail center in Winter Park; Lakeside Crossings, a 36,000-square-foot restaurant/retail center in Winter Park; Griffin Farm at Midtown, a 180,000-square-foot mixed-use grocery anchored center in Lake Mary; and ICON, an Orlando entertainment plaza.

Fonseca is a member of International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). In addition, she recently started a LinkedIn Group with other local brokers called “Central Florida Deal Making” to help commercial real estate brokers connect during the COVID-19 shutdown. Fonseca has also volunteered at local food kitchens and the Ronald McDonald House.
In addition to her commercial development experience, Fonseca co-owns Grape & The Grain Wine Bar with her husband, which they opened two years ago in Orlando’s trendy Mills 50 District.
“I’ve lived in Orlando since I was five years old, and my entire career has centered around retail, including working for retailers such as Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales, owning a wine bar and representing Unicorp in lease transactions,” Fonseca said.
Another skill she will bring to her new role is her experience with interior design. In her previous jobs, she would often select community themes and finishes for apartment projects, and manage interior and exterior design for commercial centers.
“I’ve always loved the Colliers culture,” Fonseca said. “Everyone works well together, they work hard and play hard, they’re family-oriented and you can tell that management really cares about their employees’ and brokers’ overall success. Because I was close with some members of the Colliers Florida teams already, it was a very natural transition for the next stage of my career.”
