FL Teen Drove 132 MPH On I-4, Deputy Made Him Call Parents: Sheriff

A teen pulled over for driving 132 mph on I-4 was forced to call his parents to pick him up, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

ORANGE COUNTY, FL — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office shared on social media bodycam footage from earlier this year when one of its deputies clocked a teenager driving 132 mph on I-4. (Watch the video here.)

When Corporal Greg Rittger learned the driver was 16, he made him call his parents to pick him up.

“Call your father. I need him here now,” Rittger is heard saying in the video.

After the teen calls his parents, the deputy grabs the phone from him.

“Dad, this is Corporal Rittger with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. I need you to come out here and pick up your son,” Rittger said. “I just caught your son at 132 mph. 132 mph. Can you and another driver come get him?”

He later tells the boy, “You understand that if you were 18 you would be going to jail for reckless driving?”

Instead, the teen received a traffic citation to appear in court.
