Leesburg Florida Stake Hosts Light the World Blood Drive
The Leesburg Stake partnered with OneBlood to Host a Blood Drive in Lake County

Several members of the Lake County community visited the Leesburg Stake Center (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) Saturday, December 2nd to participate in the Light the World Blood Drive. The Leesburg Stake has partnered with Oneblood for the blood drive. Participants donated blood in one of four OneBlood buses and platelets in the cultural hall.
Children of parents participated in creating snowflake clothespin ornaments. Another group created butterfly and dragonfly ornaments to be donated to community groups. Debbie Hadden, ornament organizer said, “This activity is a wonderful way to do something for someone who can’t do it for themselves. It is a great way to work with families while parents donate blood. It’s also a great way to create the Christmas Spirit.”
Several Church missionaries assisted as blood donation volunteers. According to Elder McDowell, “The blood drive brings a sense of unity to the community.” Elder Williams added, “Donating blood helps out those who need blood and saves countless lives.”

The Leesburg Stake Day of Service is part of Light the World, a global initiative that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosts annually and invites church members and the community to transform Christmas into a season of service.
Michael Saunders, president of the Leesburg Florida Stake observed: “Service makes us better people by humbling our hearts by helping those in need. In the scriptures we are taught that when you serve your neighbors, you are serving God. Participation in the Light the World Blood Drive is an opportunity to share our talents with those in need.”
