Leonit Hernandez Appointed Kolstein String Music Artist
He wants to meet string musicians at Kolstein-Oviedo
Leonit Hernandez is a mega talented double bass musician who recently was appointed as a Kolstein Music Artist. Kolstein (www.kolsteinmusic.com) is one of the oldest and best-known resources for string musicians: violinist, violists, cellists, and bassists. Established 83 years ago by Samuel Kolstein, the company has two locations in Baldwin, Long Island, New York, and in Oviedo, in eastern Seminole County, Florida.
"Kolstein's mantra is being supportive with thriving string musicians like Leonit who are all about music excellence," Kolstein Principal Manny Alvarez explains.
During April, Mr. Hernandez will be performing with The Villages Philharmonic (north of Orlando). This concert is April 2nd, 7 PM. Music includes The 7th Symphony, The Wedding of Figaro by Mozart, and the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Another concert is scheduled for May 16th.
This past week he performed several concerts with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra (Fort Lauderdale-Miami).
At the Fortissimo Music Lab in Orlando, Leonit Hernandez is the Director. This unique music school offers a variety of instrument lessons to advanced students.
He is a Professor at the Nucleus Orchestral Program, also in Orlando.
He is a Professor at the Rock Church Worldwide Orchestra in Kissimmee, Florida.
Prior to immigrating from his native Venezuela, Leonit Hernandez was a Professor at the National School of Double Bass. And he played in the double bass section of the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela.
Leonit Hernandez can often be found at Kolstein's Oviedo location, often happy to engage and mentor double bass players and other string musicians.
When Venezuelan dictator Nicholas Maduro was terminated as President about three months ago, Leonit Hernandez and his wife, violinist Marialejandra Vasquez performed at a pop up celebration recital at Kolstein-Oviedo. As Kolstein's Manny Alvarez describes: "They performed music expressing the new joy and happiness so many Venezuelans have recently experienced because Maduro was now gone."
