Missing FL Mom Was Trapped In Shipping Container: Police

The missing woman was found in the shipping container when someone heard her banging on the door, Cocoa Beach police said.

COCOA BEACH, FL — A missing 52-year-old woman was found trapped in a shipping container Thursday just before noon, Cocoa Beach police wrote in a Facebook post.

Marlene Lopez was reported missing Wednesday after a coworker called her with concern for her well-being because she didn’t pick up her son, police said. She was last seen Monday at her home on Lucerne Drive.

Detectives checked her known locations, interviewed family members and issued a missing person bulletin.

During their investigation, detectives were told that Lopez had been found in the shipping container next to a business at 2005 N. Cocoa Blvd.

Someone heard her banging on the container’s door and unlocked it, police said.

The circumstances of how she got locked in the shipping container are under investigation.

While she was uninjured, she was brought to the hospital for evaluation and possible dehydration, police said.
