New Driving School Shifts Gears for Student Drivers in Orlando

Local Entrepreneur Opens SWERVE Driving School in Orange County

ORLANDO – Buckle up, Orlando. Driver’s education in Orange County has taken a turn for the better.

SWERVE Driving School, a subsidiary of The Driver Training Group, a multi-brand drivers education company, announced today that it has opened a new driving school in Orange County. The new school is the first SWERVE Driving School in the state.

Using a relevant, research-backed curriculum developed by experts, the SWERVE Driving School will change the way local students learn to drive. The SWERVE method focuses on teaching new drivers how to drive defensively to stay-collision free through coaching. It also provides parents with opportunities to be involved in their child’s driver’s education experience and teaches them how to be more effective coaches for their new teen drivers.

“Teaching young people to drive well is as much art as science, as much psychology as technique,” said Lee Hardingham, local owner of SWERVE Driving School in Orange County. “Our instructors are coaches. They’re trained on youth culture and on how the young adult brain absorbs information. We teach teenagers to drive well, but more than that, we motivate them to use what they know to stay collision-free. We look forward to helping students in Orlando build safe, defensive driving habits that will last a lifetime.”

With years of professional commercial driving experience in the U.K., Lee will oversee the SWERVE Driving School program as both the owner and operator. He works works closely alongside his wife Jakki, a former U.K. police officer, who recently opened up 911 Driving School in Orange County, a sister driving school under The Driver Training Group brand. Through SWERVE Driving School and 911 Driving School, the married couple plans to bring specialized driving instruction that’s tailored to the needs of local student drivers to ensure safer roadways for Florida’s 20.6 million residents.

“I see this as an opportunity to invest in the safety of our community,” said Lee. “As a business owner, it’s humbling to know that SWERVE Driving School will make the roads a safer place for new drivers and local residents.”

SWERVE Driving School was created to inspire, educate, engage and motivate drivers to perform safely and responsibly behind the wheel through online, classroom, and behind-the-wheel instruction. It has developed multiple programs for teen, adult, government and corporate fleet drivers that go beyond traditional driving lessons or driver’s education courses. Instructors prepare students mentally for driving on the road by helping them understand the driving environment, develop the ability to assess their risks and capabilities in a variety of different driving situations, and help them understand the limits of their vehicle.

Founded in 2005, SWERVE Driving School provides leading-edge drivers education programs to teens, adults and mature drivers. SWERVE’s drivers education programs include:

  • Teen new driver training
  • Adult new driver training
