Ocean Breeze Elementary School puts up new murals by local artists on their school walls.

Ocean Breeze Elementary school is thrilled to unveil new artistic murals on the exterior walls of their beloved school. Local artists were commissioned to paint water or space themed murals and their amazing talent did not disappoint.

Reflecting on the murals which range from a clown fish to dolphins to a blue heron flying, Ocean Breeze principal Shelley Michaud says, "Our PTO worked with local artists for this amazing artwork. Our students and families love the murals so much!"

The artists were led by local artist Chris Maslow whose work is renowned throughout the Space Coast. The other talented artists include Nikki Maslow, Sarah Peck, Ian Soden, Jesse Travis and Kole Trent.

Each wall was sponsored by a different local business. Renee Torpy of The Torpy Retail Group was thrilled to be able to sponsor a wall. Renee said, "When I heard about the murals I knew I wanted to be involved because I feel the arts are often over looked in academia."

The businesses who sponsored the walls are Whale Eye Woodworks, The Torpy Retail Group, Dance Arts Centre, Brevard Ballet Academy, Schummacher Orthodontics and Slowpoke Maniac.

Sara Balda of Dance Arts Centre said, "We are thrilled to support the mural project at Ocean Breeze. This project gave us an opportunity to continue our mission the beyond the walls of our building and spread joy with the Ocean Breeze family. We are grateful to the artists that devoted their talents to bringing this project to life."

Assistant Principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodgian also appreciates the murals, "The murals improve our school’s appearance and create an inspiring learning environment for students. The parents, teachers, students and community members are so excited with the final product!"

This project was spearheaded by PTO President Jen Solomon who was inspired by the work the artists did at Indilantic elemetnary school. "Bringing some extra excitment and joy to the school has been a privelage. It has brought the parents, the teachers and the community a lot of happiness and that's what it is all about!"
