📰 News we're reading

• Suspect accused of attempted murder after shooting at Orlando apartment complex, deputies say (clickorlando.com) — An arrest has been made after a March shooting in Orlando's MetroWest area that left one man dead and another seriously injured. Orlando police say a 24-year-old suspect is charged with attempted first-degree murder for allegedly shooting one of the men, while investigators ruled the fatal shooting of the other as justifiable homicide.

• Ryan Elijah wins Republican primary over Cory Mills for U.S. House District 7 (clickorlando.com) — Orlando-area voters now have former local news anchor Ryan Elijah as the Republican nominee in Florida's 7th Congressional District after he defeated incumbent Cory Mills. Elijah, who left his Orlando anchor job to run, framed himself as a less controversial alternative and now turns his focus to November's general election.

• Buying a home beats renting in these surprising cities (rollingout.com) — If you're renting in Orlando, the cost gap between renting and owning a starter home has narrowed to about $19 a month, making buying more tempting. The report highlights Orlando as the clearest example of this shift, though local agents warn that mortgage limits and home prices still keep many would-be buyers sidelined.
