Stay Cool in the Florida Summer Heat
Florida is the perfect summer getaway. Use these tips to enjoy your time while staying cool!

Florida is notorious for its hot and humid summers. It’s also an excellent place for outdoor activities. To make the most of your summer, follow some tips for staying cool, so the heat doesn’t ruin your day.
Drink Water
Even when you aren’t thirsty, drink water regularly. The humidity makes it harder to notice when you’re getting dehydrated, so you want to be drinking enough you never get thirsty.

Schedule Your Day After the Weather
The hottest time of day is 3:00 p.m. and the most heated range is between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. To make the most of your time, consider getting up early and doing more in the morning hours, taking an afternoon nap and then enjoying the long cool evenings.

If a nap isn’t on your agenda, the afternoon is a great time to go to the movies, enjoy a show, or at least go somewhere with shade, like a nice park with lots of trees.
Dress Appropriately
Wear a hat or carry an umbrella; wear light fabrics and light colors. Always wear sunscreen!
Enjoy the Water
One of the more fun ways to beat the Florida heat is to take advantage of the many opportunities to play in the water. Go to the ocean, a swimming pool, a lake, have a water gun fight, or go to water attractions at one of Florida's many theme parks.
Technology is Your Friend
Take advantage of air conditioning every chance you can get, or consider carrying a small portable, battery-powered fan around with you. Another option is a spray bottle to mist your face with some cool water.
Plan Your Theme Park Days Wisely
If you’re going to theme parks, arrange your day with the heat in mind. Again, you can take an afternoon nap, or enjoy a show at the park during the hottest time of the day. Avoid standing in long lines on the hot pavement. Do a little research before you go on what rides are most popular and visit the ones that are most important to you during the cooler hours of the day.
