The Thigh High Surf + Wake Series Returns for Its Fourth Year

ORLANDO (March 30, 2023) – Central Florida’s award-winning wakesurf and wakeboard event is back for the first of three action-packed stops this weekend. The Thigh High Surf + Wake Series presented by Regal & Nautique of Orlando is a grassroots wakesurf and wakeboard contest series catering to riders of all ages & wake abilities. Athletes range from first-time competitors to local lake legends with a variety of divisions available.

Founded by wake sports legend and four-time X Games champion, Danny Harf, Thigh High Surf + Wake Series’ mission is to provide aspiring wake sports athletes a stepping stone to high-profile events like the WWA Regionals, Nautique Nationals, Nautique Worlds, and the Nautique Wakesurf Masters.

2023 SERIES OVERVIEW

The 2023 Thigh High Surf + Wake Series will take place:

• Stop 1: April 1-2 at the Clermont Watersports Complex, located at 6010 Cook Road in Clermont, FL;
• Stop 2: May 6-7 at the Orlando Watersports Complex (OWC), located at 8615 Florida Rock Road in Orlando, FL; and
• Stop 3 (Series Final): June 3-4 at Lake Ronix, located in Christmas, FL.

“This series is an action-packed weekend of fun for the whole family,” said Harf. He added that they are able to utilize existing relationships to work with the boating industry's No. 1 ranked dealer in North America and the Water Sports Industry Association's Dealer of the Year, Regal & Nautique of Orlando, to give competitors a chance to ride behind some of the best performance boats on the market, including the next-level Nautique G23 Paragon.

From its very first year, the Thigh High Surf + Wake Series has been committed to growing and sustaining the Central Florida wake community and providing athletes with a platform to get noticed and test their skills in a nurturing, low-pressure environment.

“The goal is to give the Central Florida towed water sports community a place to congregate with other enthusiasts and have fun,” said Regal & Nautique of Orlando Owner and General Manager Jeff Husby. “Our team is on-site and happy to answer questions and assist boaters who may be seeking a higher level experience on the water.”

DIVISIONS AND REGISTRATION

Changes to the platform this year include additional wakesurf divisions for male and female groups of every age. The series caters to participants of all wake abilities with a variety of divisions available including:

• Wakesurf Divisions: Novice Boys (9 and under), Novice Girls (9 and under), Novice Male (10 years and older), Novice Female (10 years and older), Intermediate Male (all ages), Intermediate Female (all ages), Advanced Male (all ages), Advanced Female (all ages), Open Men (all ages), Open Women (all ages), Men Masters (ages 35-54), Women Masters (ages 35-54), Men Legends (ages 55+), Women Legends (ages 55+), Tandem and Foil.

• Wakeboard Divisions: Grom Girls (9 and under), Grom Boys (9 and under), Girls (ages 10-13, all skill levels), Boys (ages 10-13, all skill levels), Novice (10 years and older), Intermediate (all ages), Advanced (all ages), Open (all ages), Women Legends (ages 35+, all skill levels) and Men Legends (ages 35+, all skill levels).

TOWBOAT AND EQUIPMENT

The official boat of the Thigh High Surf + Wake Series is the Super Air Nautique G23 Paragon – the next level in wake boat luxury and performance. The same Nautique boats are used in Wakeboard Worlds and Nationals, providing new riders with a chance to use the highest-level equipment.
