Woman Sues Disney Over 'Painful Wedgie' On Typhoon Lagoon Ride
The woman is suing Disney for $50,000 after she was injured riding the Humunga Kowabunga in October 2019, the lawsuit states.

ORLANDO, FL — A woman filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney World this week, claiming she suffered an "injurious wedgie" while riding on a water slide at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park.
According to the complaint filed in Orange County court, Emma McGuinness is seeking $50,000 in damages after McGuinness suffered injuries on the Humunga Kowabunga while visiting the park for her 30th birthday in October 2019.
According to court documents, McGuinness was riding the 214-foot slide when her body lifted up and she became airborne, causing her ankles to uncross, a position riders are instructed to assume when on the slide. Her body then slammed back into the slide, the complaint said.

"The impact of The Slide and impact into the standing water at the bottom of The Slide caused Ms. McGuinness' clothing to be painfully forced between her legs and for water to be violently forced inside her," the complaint states. "She experienced immediate and severe pain internally and, as she stood up, blood began rushing from between her legs."
McGuinness was taken to a local hospital for treatment and later saw a specialist to repair gynecological injuries, the complaint said.

According to court documents, McGuinness suffered "severe and permanent bodily injury" including severe vaginal lacerations and a full-thickness laceration that caused her bowel to protrude through her abdominal wall and damage her internal organs.
The lawsuit accuses Disney of negligence and claims the company did not adequately warn McGuinness of the risks associated with the ride.
"Because of a woman's anatomy, the risk of a painful 'wedgie' is more common and more serious than it is for a man," the lawsuit states. "Disney does not warn women of their increased risk of injury while using The Slide and Ms. McGuinness was not warned that she was at an increased risk of injury because of her gender or the clothes that she wore."
The complaint also accuses Disney of loss of consortium, claiming McGuinness's husband has suffered "loss of his wife's care, comfort, consortium, support and services."
