• Oviedo records no deadly crashes in 2024 amid rising county fatalities (wftv.com) — Oviedo has recorded zero traffic fatalities so far in 2024, even as deadly crashes have risen by 50% across Seminole County. City officials are planning major safety upgrades on Mitchell Hammock Road, including new lighting, a raised median, and an eight-foot sidewalk, while urging drivers to stay alert and avoid distractions to keep the community’s Vision Zero progress going.

  • This morning around 9AM, I witnessed 4-5 cars including a City of Oviedo issued truck drive through the flashing crosswalk signs in front of the aquatic center on Oviedo Blvd without slowing down.
    A student on a scooter was there attempting to respectfully cross the lanes and thankfully was paying attention and made it across safely. Neighbor… (Nextdoor Oviedo on the Park)
