Even though the temperature outside has begun to drop, that doesn't mean you have to stop participating in water adventures like paddle boarding. Sure being cold can make fun activities less fun, but there are ways to keep warm on the water even when the temp goes down.
If you are paddle boarding for fitness the best advice is to just get out there and start paddling. Even with the cooler water and air temperatures your strenuous paddling will quickly warm you up and keep you from getting too chilly. Just don't get too sweaty or stop paddling for extended periods because (especially of you get wet) you can quickly find yourself quite cold from the cooler air and water temps.
For those looking for a nice easy paddle board session try using a wet suit or "poly-pro" dry shirt. A wet suit can quickly make you too warm if you are doing a lot of hard paddling. But as winter comes on and those temperatures continue to drop, a wetsuit will work best for you. If you do find yourself too hot - jump in the water! A wetsuit will insulate you well and allow you get back on the board and start paddling again without getting too cold.
If you want to try some cold-weather paddle boarding, contact Paddle Board Rentals of St Pete. They have wetsuits available as well as everything you need for a SUP adventure on the waters of Tampa Bay and St Pete Beach!
