Florida Wildlife Corridor Expedition Program Set at the Safety Harbor Library

The Safety Harbor Library Foundation presents environmental photojournalist Carlton Ward, Jr. on Thursday, May 16 at 7:00 pm as he presents his 1000 mile journey from Everglades National Park to Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in southern Georgia to increase public awareness for the Florida Wildlife Corridor project.

On January 17, 2012, Ward, kicked off his 100 day expedition with Bear biologist Joe Guthrie and conservationist Mallory Lykes Dimmitt.  The trio traversed the wildlife habitats, watersheds, and participating working farms and ranches, which comprise the Florida Wildlife Corridor area.

The Safety Harbor Library Foundation culminates their membership drive at this event and invites you to join them for a wine and cheese meet and greet at 6:30 pm prior the presentation.  For more information, on the Foundation, visit www.safetyharborlibraryfoundation.org  RSVP not required.

Tail-Waggin’ Tutors – A Dog is a READER’S Best Friend:  Friday, May 17, 3:30 pm and Thursday, May 16, 6:30 pm.  Is your child nervous about reading?  Tail-Waggin’ Tutors may be the perfect answer.  These dogs are specially trained to listen patiently while a child practices reading and gains more confidence.  For more information, please call (727) 724-1525 ex. 4118.

Yuck at the Library: (Grades 5 – 8) Friday, May 17, 4:30 pm.  Observe and assist in conducting messy science experiments while learning scientific concepts such as viscosity, nucleation, and non-Newtonian fluids. 

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie Book Bash: (Ages 2 - 10 years) Saturday, May 18, 11:00 am.  Would you give a mouse a cookie?  Would you give a pig a pancake?  Then join us for games, prizes, story time, snacks, and crafts celebrating Laura Numeroff’s popular books!  Please call (727) 724-1525 ex. 4118 for reservations.   

Craft – Tie Dye Social: (Ages 5-12 years) Tuesday, May 21, 3:30 pm.  Bring your own shirt, socks, or pillowcase and learn tie dye techniques! 

LEGO League: (Ages 4 and up) Wednesday, May 22, 3:00 pm and every Saturday, 3:00 pm.  Bring your friends and join us for creative building with LEGOS. 

Starlight Puppet Show: Tuesday, May 28, 7:00 pm.  Come in your pajamas and snuggle down with your favorite blanket or stuffed animal for 30 minutes of sleepy time stories.
