About Sarasota School of Glass

The Sarasota School of Glass (SSG) offers a unique creative experience not found elsewhere. SSG, a part of the Sarasota art community since 2000, is the only art glass school in Florida to admit children under 16 years of age. We welcome students as young as 4 years of age.

Sue Kutno, SSG owner, is a master techniques teacher with nearly four decades working in glass. In 1991 she and her husband, Irv, moved to Sarasota and opened Glass Reflections, a glass gallery in the art gallery/antique district in Sarasota with a fusing studio in the rear. Over the next several years SSG was formed and changed locations to accommodate the ever-increasing demand for classes. SSG now resides in a 3500 SF facility off Clark Road with a staff of 9, 2 classrooms and open studio space. Our staff is fully insured and has experience teaching and working with children. Our children’s workshops are geared toward individual creativity with an emphasis on safety. Sue Kutno has written a fusing book, “Everything You Wanted to Know About Fusing and Had No One to Ask”; won the New Glass Review from Corning Museum of Glass and invented SureStik, an adhesive for fusing glass and a medium for powders and frit.
