3 Juveniles Charged for Firearm On Sarasota School Bus [UPDATE]

No students were injured, and more charges possible, police said.

SARASOTA, FL – UPDATE: THURSDAY, MARCH 23, 8:40 p.m.

After a gun was found on a school bus this afternoon, three male students from Booker Middle School in Sarasota were charged this evening as juveniles allegedly in possession of a firearm on school property, according to police.

Two juveniles are 14 years old, while the third is 13, the Sarasota Police Department said.

The school bus was at North Lockwood Ridge and Jolson Drive in Sarasota when the firearm, a .38 caliber revolver, was located at approximately 3 p.m., police said.

"Again, all students are safe, no students were injured, and there is no danger to the public," the department said, adding that more charges are expected.

Police initially reported having two students in custody for questioning.

Two middle-school students from Sarasota were under questioning today after a firearm was found on a school bus, police said.

At approximately 3 p.m., a male student from Booker Middle School in Sarasota allegedly was found on the bus to be in possession of a gun -- which detectives now have, the Sarasota Police Department said.

Two juveniles are in custody and are being questioned by detectives, the department said.

"All students are safe, and no students were harmed," police said. "The public is not in any danger."

The investigation is ongoing.
