DAYTONA BEACH, FL — Donald Trump’s race for the Republican nomination for president has gained support from the NASCAR community.
Right on the tail of news that former candidate and current New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is now backing Trump’s campaign, NASCAR CEO Brian France announced his endorsement. France is joined by retired driver Bill Elliott and current drivers Ryan Newman, Chase Elliott and David Lee Regan in backing Trump’s run for the White House.
“Mr. Trump is changing American politics forever and his leadership and strength are desperately needed,” France was quoted in a media release about the endorsement as saying. “He has had an incredible career and achieved tremendous success. This is what we need for our country.”

The endorsements were announced right before voters in Super Tuesday states headed to the polls. Trump has secured primary victories in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada heading into Super Tuesday. The businessman and developer continues to lead the Republican pack in the polls heading into peak primary season.
Florida voters head to the polls on March 15 for the state’s Presidential Preference Primary. A recent Public Policy Polling poll put Trump out ahead with likely Sunshine State Republican voters and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the lead for the Democrats. The same poll also determined that nearly 40 percent of Florida voters say it’s possible candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, could be the infamous Zodiac Killer.
