New FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Opens In Sarasota: County

SARASOTA, FL — A new mobile disaster recovery center is temporarily open in Sarasota.

The center, which is operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is open in the Siesta Beach parking lot, 948 Beach Road, Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to a Sarasota County news release.

Information on disaster assistance from state agencies, FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available at the center following Hurricane Idalia’s hit to Florida at the end of August.

Residents and business owners can get help applying for federal assistance and disaster loans, update applications, and learn about other available recovery resources, the county said.

After Idalia, Sarasota County was approved for individual and small business assistance, allowing individuals and households, as well as business owners, to apply for financial and direct services from FEMA and other agencies.
