North Port Commissioner Injured In Motorcycle Crash: Report
Pete Emrich, the North Port District 4 commissioner, was injured in a Friday afternoon crash on his way to city hall, a report said.

NORTH PORT, FL — North Port Commissioner Pete Emrich was injured Friday afternoon in a motorcycle crash, reports said.
The crash happened about 4:15 p.m. on Sumter Boulevard. His wife told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that he was driving to North Port City Hall from Wawa at the time of the crash.
Emrich hit a curb and a tree, she added. He was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s Sarasota campus by helicopter.

The commissioner broke his C1 and C2 vertebrae and suffered other injuries in the crash, he wrote in a Facebook post.
“I am home and am moving very slowly,” Emrich wrote. “No surgery at this time. (Collar) to stay (on) for the next 90 days and then go from there.”

He was elected to the commission’s District 4 seat in November 2022. His term ends in November 2026.
