‘Potential Poacher’ Caught Hunting Hog At Myakka State Park: Watch
Watch the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Aviation Section help FWC officers track "a potential poacher" at Myakka State Park.
SARASOTA, FL — Deputies with the Aviation Section tracked “a potential poacher” at Myakka State Park just after midnight on June 5, leading to his arrest, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. (Watch the suspect being tracked and arrested below.)
A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer contacted the sheriff’s office requesting assistance regarding the poacher.
The Aviation Section found the man, who had two dogs with him on a side-by-side. He used the dogs to harvest a hog, which he hauled back to the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

Aviation deputies directed FWC officers on the ground to the man’s location and he was taken into custody.
Investigators learned that he had previously been trespassed from the park, the sheriff’s office said.

He was charged with trespass after warning and additional charges may be pending per the outcome of FWC’s investigation.
