SARASOTA, FL — The John Ringling Causeway will be lit in rainbow colors through June 7 to recognize LGBTQ+ pride awareness month, the city of Sarasota wrote in a Facebook post. The lighting of the bridge kicked off Thursday night.

Each day, the red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple lights will be turned on 30 minutes after sunset and turned off 30 minutes after sunrise, the city said.

The bridge, a 2.6-mile causeway that stretches from downtown Sarasota to St. Armands Circle, is often lit up in special colors to recognize holidays and events.
