Shirtless Ted Cruzmobile Turning Heads In Florida

A Merritt Island woman is hoping the head-turning vehicle will help Sen. Ted Cruz cross 'the finish line first.'

This is how you get to the finish line first! You do everything in your power for Ted Cruz and then some. #tcot #pjnet #ccot #GodBlessAmerica #CruzCrew

MERRITT ISLAND, FL — Cheryl Lankes is a staunch supporter of Sen. Ted Cruz’s bid for the Republican nomination. She even has a car to prove it.

Hoping to raise attention for Cruz’s campaign – and turn a few heads in the process – Lankes had her 1974 Volkswagen decked out in the candidate’s honor. The gold Super Bug is now adorned with a shirtless image of the Republican senator from Texas, complete with tattoos and a cigarette hanging from his mouth.

“This is how you get to the finish line first,” Lankes wrote about the vehicle on her Facebook page. “You do everything in your power for Ted Cruz and then some.”

As Cruz and party frontrunner Donald Trump race toward the possibility of a contested July Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, some extra revving of the senator’s campaign might be in order. At last count, Cruz only had 465 of the necessary 1,237 delegates needed for the nomination. Trump holds 739 delegates and Ohio Gov. John Kasich only has 143.

Lankes’ Facebook page paints the picture of her support for Cruz. Her profile photo is a shot of Heidi Cruz while cover photo is of Cruz himself.

While Lankes couldn’t be reached for immediate comment about her unusual Volkswagen, she did explain the reasoning behind the racy images of Cruz during an interview with the Orlando Sentinel.

“I thought it would catch young people’s attention,” Lankes said. “I thought that would be a good thing for Ted’s race.”
