Suspect Arrested After Jumping Out of Deputy's Car

The Sheriff's Office said Brett Patton jumped from a deputy's moving car.

On Saturday 38-year-old Brett Patton was being transported to Sarasota County Jail by a deputy in a marked patrol car when he jumped out the window at US 41 and Phillipi Street.

According to sheriff's office, Patton was able to unlatch his safety restrain, while handcuffed, and jump from the vehicle via a partially open window while the car was moving.

Patton was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he is receiving medical attention, the news release said.

According to the sheriff's office, Patton had been arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and trespass.
