2 Related Deaths In Seminole Heights Under Investigation By Tampa Police

A man was found dead in a vehicle and a woman was found dead in a fire-damaged home, Tampa police said.

TAMPA, FL — The early Monday morning deaths of a man and a woman in two related incidents in different parts of Seminole Heights are under investigation, Tampa police said in a news release.

Officers responded to reports of a vehicle idling in the middle of the road in the 6900 block of N. Central Avenue around 1:20 a.m.

They found a man dead inside the vehicle from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Officers were later dispatched to a home in the 200 block of E. Patterson Street for reports of an unresponsive woman just before 6:30 a.m.

Preliminary evidence showed smoke and structural damage inside the home, indicating a fire had recently occurred, according to police.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine her official cause of death.

Detectives determined that the two deaths weren’t random acts and that the man and woman knew each other.

Investigators are still working to determine the exact nature of their relationship and the events leading up to both deaths, police said.
