$600,000 Damage, 2 Injuries in 3-Alarm Apartment Fire
The fire broke out at Waterman's Crossing shortly after the New Year.

TAMPA, FL — As Tampa Fire Rescue officials continue to investigate the cause of a Friday morning blaze at an apartment complex, damage has been estimated at $600,000.
The fire at Waterman’s Crossing Apartments, 4515 N. Rome Ave., was reported at 1:36 a.m. The source was Building 1605R, where firefighters ultimately discovered heavy smoke and flames coming from the east end, third floor roof of the three-story, multifamily unit, Tampa Fire Rescue reported in an email to media.
By 2 a.m., the blaze had been declared a three-alarm fire with residents evacuated and more than 50 personnel responding.

While the fire was brought under control by 2:35 a.m., fire rescue says one resident was injured and so was a firefighter. The condition of the resident has not been released, but fire officials say the firefighter was treated and released from a local hospital.
The Red Cross was notified and responded to help displaced residents.

As of Friday afternoon, the cause of the fire remained under investigation. It is unclear how many people were displaced.
