Tampa Man Who Intentionally Hit Girlfriend With Car Arrested: Hillsborough Sheriff

A Tampa man who intentionally drove into his girlfriend with a car during a fight was charged with attempted murder, HCSO said.

TAMPA, FL — A Tampa man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after intentionally hitting his girlfriend with a car on East 138th Avenue last week, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to the scene of the June 12 crash and brought the woman to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives learned that the suspect, Levi Stevenson, 28, and the victim got into an altercation before the woman tried to call for help.

Stevenson forcefully took her phone, and as she walked along the side of Easy 138th Avenue, he veered off the road, hit her with his car, and drove away from the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

Stevenson was found by investigators and arrested on Monday.

In addition to a second-degree attempted murger charge, he also faces one count of robbery by sudden snatching.

"A moment of anger should never cost someone their life. This victim showed incredible courage by walking away from a dangerous situation, only to be met with unthinkable violence," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Thanks to the determination of our detectives, this individual is now in custody and will face the consequences of his actions."
