Carjacker Threatened Mom With Knife, Cops Say

A search for the suspect in the Tampa case remains active.

TAMPA, FL – The Tampa Police Department is investigating a Wednesday morning carjacking that left a mother and her daughter without a ride to school.

According to the agency, the incident happened around 7:39 a.m. as the woman left her home in the 3000 block of Beach Street West to take her child to school. As the mother was preparing to get in the car, a suspect approached her and threatened her with a knife, the police department wrote in an email to media.

The woman yelled for her daughter to get out of the car. When she did, the man took off with the woman’s green 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe.

The man and the car were last seen heading west on Beach Street.

No further details are available at this time, including the suspect’s description.
