TAMPA, FL — Hillsborough County Sheriff's Deputy William Scobie is back on the job after being struck in the back of the neck with a brick during civil unrest in the University Square Mall area May 30.

Following a peaceful protest that began at Fowler Avenue and 56th Street that afternoon, the march turned violent around Busch Boulevard and 30th Street and the University Square Mall area on Fowler Avenue. During the rioting, a Mobil gas station and Champs sporting good store were burned down and more than 40 other businesses were damaged or looted.
