SUN CITY CENTER, FL — A man was seriously injured and the driver of a tractor-trailer truck was arrested in a Monday afternoon crash on Interstate 75, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

Northbound traffic was moving slowly on the highway around 4:30 p.m. because of an unrelated vehicle fire near the Sun City Center exit.

The truck’s driver made an illegal u-turn to head south on I-75 at mile marker 235, near the Hillsborough and Manatee county line, FHP said.

The tractor-trailer drove into the path of a Toyota Corolla driven by a 28-year-old Parrish man and was hit by the car.
