Hillsborough High School students had a busy Monday morning after smoke was reported on the campus.
Tampa Fire Rescue received a 911 call about a possible blaze on the 5000 N. Central Ave. campus around 9:30 a.m., department spokesman Jason Penny wrote in an email to media. The smoke was reportedly coming from the school’s main building.
When fire rescue units arrived on the scene, students had already been safely evacuated and were in no danger, Penny noted.

“Firefighters found the source of the smoke to be a malfunctioning air handler and cancelled the other responding units,” Penny wrote.
