Hillsborough OKs Bucs Stadium Deal
At least $87 million will be spent on renovating Raymond James Stadium.

TAMPA, FL – The Hillsborough County Commission has given a greenlight to a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that paves the way for at least $87 million in improvements to Raymond James Stadium.
While about $29 million in taxpayer dollars will pay for such things as 9,600-square-foot video boards, the Bucs have also committed $58 million, The Tampa Tribune reported.
The county’s share of bill comes from its tourist tax, the paper noted. The fourth cent of every five collected is only allowed to be spent on projects such as the stadium renovations.

Before the deal is finalized, the Tampa City Council must also approve it. The proposal is expected to be on the city’s Thursday agenda.
