Ice Skating Returns to Downtown Tampa

Find out what you need to know before you head to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

Tampa Bay area residents who want to celebrate the season by getting in a little ice skating will want to head Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

The downtown Tampa venue is once again playing host to a giant outdoor rink. Tampa’s Downtown on Ice opens Friday, Nov. 20, and runs through Jan. 3 at the 600 N. Ashley Drive park. Here are a few things visitors need to know before they go:

Costs

Skating for all ages is a flat fee of $12. This includes skate rental and provides 90 minutes of ice time.

Normal Hours

Regular hours are as follows:

  • Monday through Thursday – 4 to 9 p.m.
  • Friday – 4 to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday – noon to 9 p.m.

Holiday Hours

The ice skating rink will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve and from 4 to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day.

Special Closings

The rink does close down for private parties and offers bookings for them, as well. To keep up with closings or to find out more about booking private ice time, visit Tampa’s Downtown on Ice online.

Parking

Parking is available throughout downtown, but organizers recommend visitors use the city’s William F. Poe Garage at 800 N. Ashley Drive. The cost is park is $1.20 an hour with a maximum $7 charge.
